With windy and wet conditions, the Bulldog cross country teams braved the elements Tuesday to compete at Eagle Grove.
Lake Mills was led by Zack Marpe, who finished in 43rd place out of a possible 95 runners, with a time of 19 minutes, 30 seconds. Corey Aamodt finished next for the Bulldogs with a time of 19:48, to take home 49th place. Jacob Sorensen followed Aamodt and recorded a time of 19:59. Tim Brandt finished in 53rd place, with a time of 20:01. Following Brandt was Casey Tiedman, who finished with a time of 20:40.
Rounding out the Lake Mills line-up was Tyler Dahle, who recorded a time of 22:22 and John Esktrand, who finished with a time of 24:35.
“Sorenson ran well,” said Lake Mills head coach Mark VanGorkom. “He usually runs fourth, but finished third today. He is really improving.”
On the girls’ side, Anna Rogers led the Bulldogs with a 51st place finish and a time of 19:02.
“I told Anna to try and run a 19:45 … that says a lot about her and how hard she works.” Van Gorkom said.
Kylah Poley followed Rogers with a time of 20:41, and Amber Chrisitanson, who was competing in just her third meet clocked a season-best time of 21:18.
Lake Mills will be in action next Monday, when they travel to Forest City, the meet starts at 4:30 p.m.
