Officials to dedicate Owatonna Hospital, more

Officials with Allina Hospitals & Clinics and Mayo Health System will cut the ribbon Thursday in Owatonna on the first Professional Intercollegiate Education Center partnership with Riverland Community College, 10-bed inpatient Mental Health Unit, and a comprehensive Healing Arts Program all in Minnesota’s newest hospital — the Owatonna Hospital.
Speakers include Owatonna Mayor Tom Kuntz, Allina President Ken Paulus, Mayo Health System Board Chairman Peter Carryer, Owatonna Clinic and Owatonna Hospital Vice President of Medical Affairs Ralph Wertwijn, Owatonna Hospital President David Albrecht, Owatonna Clinic CEO Brian Bunkers, Owatonna Hospital Board Chairman Steve Shurts and Owatonna Clinic CAO David Berg.
The dedication is at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, with tours offered until 8 p.m. The new Owatonna Hospital is at 2250 NW 26th St.
The new hospital replaces one about three miles away built in 1931. Patients will be accepted and transferred from the old hospital on Friday starting at 7 a.m.
