Here are highlights in history for Jan. 17, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — An article by Tribune correspondent Barbara Ruiter featured Paul Jepson, mayor of Forest City, Iowa.
1981 — A 12-inch black and white television set was on sale at Albert Lea’s Dickerman Appliance for $99. This store at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Clark Street also had a 19-inch color set on sale at $398.
1951 — Albert Lea’s Army National Guard unit was sworn into federal service and scheduled to be sent to Camp Rucker, Ala., during the Korean War.
