The Upper Midwest Powerboat Association hosted an event Sunday in Albert Lea called the Fountain Lake Powerboat Races. The non-profit club has boats that under the right conditions can run speeds from 50 miles per hour to 137 miles per hour. It was the first time they’ve ran in Albert Lea. The drag was shorter than drivers were used to, at 1,000 feet, instead of of a quarter mile so racers had to adjust their habits. -- Brandi Hagen/Albert Lea Tribune
