Mankato East blanked the Albert Lea boys’ soccer team 4-0 Tuesday in Mankato.

The Cougars, ranked eighth in Class A, scored once in the first half and three times in the second half with the wind at their backs.

“I think we played very respectably in the first half,” said Tigers head coach Elia Romano. “Second half, the game kind of got away from us. We were under pressure a lot, especially in the second half.”

East (11-2-1, 5-1-1 Big Nine) got in behind the Albert Lea defense for three of its goals in the game, but Romano felt there were a lot of good performances from his squad.

“We were just a little outclassed,” he said.

Just two games remain for the Tigers in the regular season. Albert Lea will head to Austin Thursday and to Kasson Saturday to face Kasson-Mantorville in the season finale.
