Here are highlights in history for Jan. 19, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1993 — A group of young swimmers known as the Tiger Sharks were sponsored by the Albert Lea Family Y.
1983 — The Mason City High School Mohawks boys’ wrestling team, ranked fifth in Iowa, defeated the Albert Lea High School Tigers, ranked ninth in Minnesota, with a score of 36-17.
1973 — Famous pilot Max Conrad of Winona was in Albert Lea for the Minnesota Aviation Trades Association convention. He was then known as the “Flying Grandfather.”
