Here are highlights in history for Jan. 24, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — The Wells plant of the Del Monte firm was sold to Stokely USA Inc. of Oconomowoc, Wis., two days earlier.
1981 — Freemond Madson Post 447 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars presented a new flag to Albert Lea’s Naeve Hospital. Gordon Kaasa was the post commander.
1961 — Don Drescher of rural Alden was named as Freeborn County’s Outstanding Young Farmer by the Albert Lea Jaycees.
