Minnesota authors Mary Huntley and Judy Appel will give a program on friendships, building on one of the Blue Zones life domains, at an Oct. 10 luncheon sponsored by P.E.O. Chapter CV of Albert Lea. The event is open to the public and proceeds will go to support P.E.O. educational and philanthropic projects.
Huntley and Appel have authored the book Amazing Attributes of Aging which tells the unique story, of 36 women who graduated from Mankato High School together in 1958. Saying good-by as they went off to college, these young women formally named themselves the Blue Garter Gang. Their remarkable account of 50 years of friendship is inspirational and validates the on-going simple gifts of lasting friendship.
The luncheon will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 306 Water St. at 11 a.m. Tickets are $12 and may be purchased from P.E.O. members or at Celebrations, Doyle’s Hallmark and Ben’s Floral no later than today.
