FOREST CITY, Iowa– The Lake Mills-Northwood-Kensett Ducks wrestling team took to the road on Thursday as they traveled to Forest City to take on the Indians.
The Ducks won eight matches, four of those wins were falls, as the Lake Mills-Northwood-Kensett Ducks defeated the Forest City Indians 38-28.
“This was our signature win so far for this year,” LM-NK coach Alex Brandenburg said. “This is the first team I would say we were underdogs against and beat.”
After falling behind 9-0, the Ducks fought back winning the next four matches to take a 20-9 lead.
LM-NK then won four out the next eight matches to earn the 38-28 win.
Brandenburg says the seniors came up big Thursday to help give the Ducks the win.
“The seniors came up big, going 5-0 including 3 pins and a tech fall,” Brandenburg said. ” I am so happy for them because they have worked hard to make this team good.”
Brandenburg also pointed to the atmosphere and the LM-NK crowd as being instrumental in the win.
“The atmosphere was electric, and the LMNK crowd was huge and very instrumental in the win,” Brandenburg said.
With the win, the Ducks now own a 21-4 dual record on the season.
