The Albert Lea girls’ swimming and diving team hosted Faribault on Tuesday night. The Tigers won the meet with a final score of 94-90.

The Tigers’ Lindsey Horejsi led the team with her record breaking habit.

She broke the Albert Lea High School pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 4.68 seconds.

“Super job by Lindsey Horesji again,” said Albert Lea head coach Jon Schmitz. “She had a tough schedule tonight and she got a little tired. It wasn’t her best time, but she did set a pool record. That’s what she does.”

As for the Tigers’ four-point win, Schmitz said it was excellent.

“Faribault is a young team and getting better,” Schmitz said.

The Tigers took the lead right from the start of the meet and held on to it. The Tigers won nine out of the 12 events on the night, with some first-time wins and some personal best times as well.

“Haley Simon had her first win ever,” said Schmitz. “Well deserved. She swam some excellent times, and also did a nice job in the relays for us.”

Simon won the 200-yard freestyle and was also part of the winning team for the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Also, singled out by the coach was Bailey Sandon, who won two events and had her best times in both according to coach Schmitz.

“Bailey is going to get our MVP shirt for tonight,” Schmitz said. “We are really happy with her performance.”

Karli Kriewall won the diving portion of Tuesday night’s competition with a big margain.

“We won a lot of close races tonight. I think that is attributed to our conditioning that we have been doing,” Schmitz said.

The Tigers next meet will be at Rochester Century on Thursday. The meet is scheduled for 6 p.m.
