Snowmobile show draws many

Classic snowmobiles were on display and drag racing Saturday at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds all in an effort to support servicemen and women overseas.
The Vintage Pride snowmobile show started at 7 a.m. Saturday and lasted until 5 p.m. with all the proceeds going toward care packages for soldiers serving overseas. Event organizers estimated 1,500 people came to the event and some as far away as 300 miles.
“It’s great to be able to say thank you to the soldiers,” said Dan Wulff, a founder of the Sheer Determination racing team. “Not only to the soldiers but to the families, because they have to endure so much. We just want them to know that we appreciate what they do.”
The Sheer Determination racing team is made up of a group of snowmobile enthusiasts from Albert Lea and the surrounding area which is completely philanthropic. Wulff, an Albert Lea High School alum, served in the military and many people on the Sheer Determination team know people who are serving or have served, so it was a natural fit to have the team serve the servicemen and women.
“We just want to do what we can to give back to our troops every year,” said Larry Fisher, one of the event organizers. “We’re going to keep doing this every year hopefully.”
The day included a swap meet, drag races and world champion snowmobile racer Mike Decker, of Team Deckers.
