Here are highlights in history for Feb. 2, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — A Tribune editorial strongly suggested that a local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) should be organized to deal with this local problem.
1979 — Albert Lea boxers won four of 10 bouts during Golden Gloves competition held at the local National Guard Armory.
1969 — Albert Lea City Manager Barkley Omans announced he would be resigning from this post after 12 years of service.
