1991 — Captain Patrick Hansen of Austin was the new commanding officer of Albert Lea’s Company A, 1st. Battalion, 135th Infantry of the Army National Guard.

1981 — Freeborn County Clerk of Courts Bill Aanerud announced he would be retiring from this position on May 29.

1971 — The twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hagen were born a day apart. Dawn Beverly was born 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 3 and her sister, Shawn Everly, was born at 12:03 a.m. on Feb. 4.
