Eleanor Pedersen, 89, Alden

Eleanor B. Pedersen, 89, of Alden, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at her home. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden with the Rev. Greg Ofsdahl officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in Carlston Cemetery, Freeborn County. Memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church of Alden or the American Cancer Society of Minnesota. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.

Pedersen

Eleanor was born on May 31, 1923, to Oscar and Martha (Jensen) Weirum in Carlston Township, Freeborn County. She spent her whole life in and around Alden. She attended Alden schools and worked at Munsingwear in Albert Lea during World War II. Eleanor married Leo Kjolhede Pedersen on Nov. 21, 1947, at First Lutheran Church in Alden. She was a long-time active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. She was a 30-year survivor of breast cancer. Eleanor enjoyed gardening, crocheting and cross stitch, crossword puzzles and reading. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Eleanor is survived by her husband Leo Pedersen of Alden; daughter Donna (Darrell) Hill of Woodbury; son-in-law Harold Jensen of Fort Smith, Ark.; grandsons: Scott Jensen of St. Paul, Darrick (JeriLynn Young) Jensen of Minneapolis and Brad (Sarah) Hill of Richfield; great-granddaughter Penelope Hill; sister Erma (Roger) Swenson of Alden; nephew Kevin (Sandi) Swenson of Alden; aunts: Gladys Weyrum, Alden and Lillian Wyrum of Albert Lea; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Jensen.
