Does government not trust women?

This is in response to the letter from John Forman, who claims that Roe v. Wade “sets a slippery slope.”
First of all, it’s ridiculous to comment that you didn’t feel any safer in the days before Roe v. Wade. Of course you didn’t. You aren’t the one who could be forced to carry your rapists baby to term because someone else says it’s immoral to abort it. The slippery slope we should be worried about is the one where the American citizen has no choices.
Also, it is ridiculous to include abortion, polygamy, gay marriage and prostitution in the same conversation and expect to make a valid point. They are all very different.
When a government bans abortion, it just shows that they don’t trust women to handle their bodies on their own. And when a government bans gay marriage, it shows that the government doesn’t trust their citizens with the responsibility of loving the “right” person. It’s sad to see that our country has so little trust in some of its citizens.
