Editorial Roundup: More vandalism isn’t the right way to respond

An individual or group proceeded to spray paint “Albert Lea High School” on several buildings and walkways at Wescott Field over the weekend.
Wescott is home to Austin soccer, tennis, football and track, and the incident was reported by Packer head football coach Tim Hermann.
We don’t know who did it, but whoever did crossed the line.
If it was football players or any other student from Albert Lea High School, we hope this is as far as things go.
It’s one thing to have school spirit, but it’s another thing to break the law.
As for retaliation, we, of course, encourage our students to take the high road.
Instead of figuring out ways to prank Albert Lea, if that’s where the source is, figure out ways to run faster, block better and cheer louder.
Austin has great fans and a football team that has the chance to go far this season. Let’s not ruin it with getting involved in a prank war.
Instead of doing something to their field, let’s do something on ours on Oct. 21, the date Albert Lea plays Austin at Wescott Field.
Let’s show good sportsmanship and play the best game of the season.
