Meet the Athlete: Kenzie Waldemar

Q: What year are you in school?
A: Junior

Q: What school do you attend?
A: Albert Lea

Q: Who is your immediate family?
A: Mom, Holli; dad, Troy; sister, Kaley

Q: What sports are you involved in?
A: Soccer, hockey and softball

Q: How did you get started in soccer?
A: My friends played so I tried it.

Q: How did you get started in hockey?
A: My dad played but I didn’t know. I just asked if I could play and they said yes.

Q: How did you get started in softball?
A: Me and a couple of friends tried it out for a spring sport.

Q: What numbers are you in your sports?
A: No. 16 for all three sports.

Q: What other extracurricular activities are you in?
A: I work at the City Arena.

Q: Did your parents play sports when they were younger?
A: My dad played hockey, and my mom was a figure skater and was in track.

Q: Do you have siblings that play or have played any sports?
A: My sister, Kaley, played hockey and soccer and was in track.

Q: What are your sports-related achievements?
A: I got Most Improved Player twice in hockey. I also received the Most Valuable Player in junior varsity soccer.

Q: What is your sports-related goal?
A: My goal is to make it to state before I graduate.

Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete? Why?
A: Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks because he’s a good hockey player and takes it seriously.

Q: What is your favorite school subject?
A: History is my favorite subject because the teacher makes it fun.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher?
A: Jim Haney because he make learning fun.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I like to ride dirt bike and go four-wheeling. I also like tubing and rollerblading.

Q: What is your dream job?
A: To be an orthodontist. I have braces and like the people that do it.

Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: “Pretty Little Liars”

Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Cheeseburgers

Q: What is an interesting fact about you?
A: I have been to Jamaica on a mission trip for Salem Lutheran church, that was in seventh grade.
