MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves guard Malcolm Lee will be out indefinitely with an injury to his right knee.
The Wolves announced Friday they’re in the process of further evaluating Lee’s condition to determine the next steps for treatment on what they called a chondral injury, or cartilage damage. Lee was hurt in the second quarter of Wednesday’s win over Denver; the initial diagnosis was a hyperextension.
Lee is in his second NBA season, a second-round pick from UCLA by Chicago who was traded to Minnesota on draft day. With Ricky Rubio and Brandon Roy hurt, Lee has started 12 of 16 games for the Wolves. He’s averaging 4.9 points, 1.3 assists and 18.1 minutes per game.
Nine of the 15 players on Minnesota’s roster have missed games to injury this season.
