NISSWA — Irene Hagen said she was at her Nisswa home Friday when she got a phone call from Newtown, Conn., saying her granddaughter was in a lockdown at school.
A few hours later, Hagen learned that 6-year-old Charlotte Bacon was one of 20 children killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Hagen said Sunday that the whole family is devastated and trying to come to terms with Charlotte’s death. She said it is unimaginable.
Hagen said Charlotte was sweet and energetic. She had beautiful red, curly hair and she loved school. She also loved wearing dresses.
Seventeen members of the Hagen family will travel from Minnesota to Connecticut this morning. Charlotte’s funeral will be held later this week.
