The Minnesota Twins have added another piece to their starting rotation, agreeing to a one-year deal with former New York Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey, according to a report on CBSSports.com.

Pelfrey, 28, has been sidelined since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May. But CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman says the right-hander is throwing well and is expected to be ready for the coming season.

Pelfrey’s deal is for $4 million, with another $1.5 million in incentives, according to Heyman.

In seven seasons in New York, Pelfrey is 50-54 with a 4.36 earned-run average. His best season was 2010, when he was 15-9 with a 3.66 ERA.

Pelfrey joins a Twins staff that includes recently acquired Vance Worley (trade with Philadelphia), Kevin Correia (free agent from Pittsburgh) and Alex Meyer (minor leaguer in trade with Washington).
