Memorial services for Elaine Esse will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. The Rev. Jim Rushton will officiate. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Elaine died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, in her home.
Elaine Esse was born Oct. 11, 1929, to Warner Willard Heisley and Vola (Moody) Heisley in Eureka, Wis. As a young child, Elaine and her family moved to Northwood, where she grew up. She attended Northwood High School, graduating in 1947. On Jan. 1, 1948, Elaine married her husband of 60 years, Clayton “Buster” Esse. Together they raised two children, Patty and Mark. After marrying, she joined First Lutheran Church of Glenville.
Elaine worked at Wilson & Co. for many years as the Logistics Manager, where she was well known for her commitment and dedication. Elaine helped run the family farm, which she continued to do, long after she retired from Wilson & Co. Elaine was a member of the Elk’s Lodge and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially Sunday Nights at Cow Pie Creek and at the lake. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening and bird watching.
Survivors include her children, Patricia (Richard) Stackhouse and Mark Esse; her grandchildren, Rachel Engram, Aaron (Claudia) Engram, Jessica (John) Bronson and Jernelle (Chris) Baas; sister, Doris Branstad; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clayton ‘Buster’ Esse; sisters, Ruth Scharr, Mable Wedeking and June Heisley, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Justine Esse.
