Memorial services for Elvin G. Reim, 88, of Yakima, Wash., formerly of Albert Lea, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mansfield Lutheran Church. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Burial will be at the Mansfield Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County servicemen’s organizations. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at the church. Elvin died Dec. 20, 2012, in Yakima, Wash.
Elvin George Reim was born on Jan. 8, 1924, in Alden Township, the son of Fred and Louise (Virgins) Reim. He attended school in Alden and then served his country in the U.S. Army. On July 6, 1947, Elvin was united in marriage to Marilyn Sorenson in Albert Lea. He worked for Almco as a machine operator. The couple moved to Lakeview, Ark., in 1991. After Marilyn died, Elvin moved to Yakima, Wash., in 2007.
Elvin enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, and for over 65 years was “Santa’s Helper.” Traveling and spending time with his family and friends were very important to him.
Elvin is survived by his daughter, LouJean (LeRoyce) Ingham and Son Sanford (Diane) Reim. Grandson, James (Sheila) Ingham. In-laws; Harlowe and Marilys Sorenson, Lavone Sorenson, Shirley Sorenson and Ronnie and Virginia Sorenson. Many nieces and nephews.
Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, brothers; Manville (Marie) Reim, Manford Reim and Elmer (Elma) Reim. Sisters; Lillian (Rene) Steinhauer, Alma Leegaard, Gertrude (Leonard) Johnson, Luverna (Russell) Johnson and Inez (Rudolph) Bredo.
