• 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 4

All three will be at the Albert Lea Armory. All donors who donate a pint of blood will receive a certificate to get a pint of ice cream at Dairy Queen.

Call 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license is required. Individuals who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

The Red Cross helps meet patient needs for car crashes, organ transplants, premature babies and many more medical uses. The blood supply is particularly vulnerable during the holiday season because donors travel and spend time with family and friends and may forget to schedule a donation appointment. Because red blood cells have a shelf life of only 42 days, it is vital for those eligible to give blood regularly.
