Foundation helps local children

For the past 12 years, the Education Foundation of Albert Lea has worked to raise funds to help the children of the Albert Area Schools have increased learning opportunities. From its first year, when it helped cover costs of items in the new high school, to the present, when it provides funds to help needy students, the Education Foundation’s commitment is to the children of District 241. Several alumni have also established scholarships through the Education Foundation to extend the commitment of assistance past high school.
As the year draws to a close, the Education Foundation of Albert Lea would like to remind readers of two opportunities to contribute. One is to make a tax-deductible contribution to one of the programs of the foundation such as the teacher grant program. This program has been established so that teachers can apply for funds to help with special enrichment programs for their classes. What a wonderful way to honor a special teacher in your life by making a contribution in his or her honor or memory. A second opportunity is to nominate a graduate of Albert Lea High School as a distinguished alumni. The criteria for nomination can be found on our website at www.efal-us.org. You also will find descriptions of all the funds on the website. Nominations are due by Dec. 31. Contributions and nominations should be sent to the Education Foundation of Albert Lea, P.O. Box 82, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
Thank you for the wonderful support the community has provided for the students of the Albert Lea Area Schools through the Education Foundation.
