MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis officials expected to restore water service to the remaining building affected by last week’s water main break by Sunday night.
Repairs are ongoing, but backup service using temporary lines will serve the six buildings that have been without water since Thursday’s break. The city says the water will be available for household tasks, but it will take about 24 hours to test it to ensure it’s drinkable, so anyone who wants to drink the water in those buildings is advised to boil it first.
The buildings are on 2nd Street North, between 3rd Avenue North and Hennepin Avenue.
The city has reopened most streets affected by the break, which spilled 14 million gallons, except for two blocks of southbound Hennepin Avenue and a block of 2nd Street North.
