Chevo Garcia, 69, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Eusebio Chevo-Joe Garcia of Albert Lea will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service. The Rev. Timothy T. Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery.
Mr. Garcia died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. He was 69 years of age.
Chevo was born Dec. 16, 1943, in Karnes City, Texas, the son of Jose and Jovita Garcia. He graduated high school in Karnes City. On July 1, 1961, he was united in marriage to Lily Zamora in Albert Lea.
Chevo worked at the Ferris Nursery in Hampton, Iowa, then moved to the Albert Lea area where he worked on the farm near Hollandale. He worked as a welder for a time at Universal and the Albert Lea Foundry before becoming a certified custodian with the Albert Lea School District 241 for more than 20 years.
Chevo enjoyed fishing, western movies, music and dancing, playing with his dogs and grilling out. Fridays were spent over coffee and donuts with his fellow custodians. He will be dearly missed by his pets.
Chevo is survived by his wife, Lily, of Albert Lea; sons, Rudy and Philip of Albert Lea; brothers, Joe and Raul Garcia of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Geneva Vasquez of Karnes City; uncle Mercedes Garcia of Kenedy, Texas; sister-in-law Irene (Jose) Guzman of Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law Jesse (Mary) Zamora of Albert Lea; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Jesse (Emma) Zamora, infant daughter Helen and brothers Paulo and Frank Garcia.
