Minnesota is getting a fourth Cabela’s store. The company announced plans Tuesday to open a story in the St. Paul suburb of Woodbury.

The outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear is best-known in southern Minnesota for its massive 150,000-square-foot store along Interstate 35 north of Owatonna. Opening in 1998, it is the third-oldest Cabela’s store.

The other two stores in Minnesota are in Rogers and East Grand Forks.

Construction on the Woodbury location, according to a news release, would begin in fall 2013, and the store would open in fall 2014. It is slated to have 85,000 square feet and be in the Tamarack Village Shopping Center.

The store is expected to employ up to 185 full- and part-time employees, the news release states.

“Minnesota offers a tremendous array of outdoor pursuits and that has been highlighted by the commitment and loyalty of Cabela’s customers across the state,” said Tommy Millner, CEO of the Sydney, Neb-based chain. “Cabela’s has had remarkable success in the East Grand Forks, Owatonna and Rogers locations and we expect similar results in Woodbury.”

The inside will feature the company’s next-generation layout, designed to surround customers in an outdoor experience, including dynamic wildlife displays and trophy animal mounts displayed on a mountain. The store will also feature a boat shop, gun library, aquarium, bargain cave and fudge shop.

Cabela’s on Tuesday also announced plans to build a store in Greenville, S.C., opening in 2014. Cabela’s operates 40 retail stores across the United States and Canada. It still doesn’t have a store in Iowa, nor is there one under construction. The closest one under construction is a 100,000-square-foot store slated to open this summer in Green Bay, Wis. It is among 11 stores under construction.

The Tamarack Village Shopping Center in Woodbury includes Home Depot, JC Penney, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Toys R Us, JoAnn Fabric and Cub Foods.
