The month of December marked two milestones for Habitat for Humanity in Freeborn and Mower counties. For the first time, the organization has hired an executive director to work with the board of directors, all volunteers and the communities supporting the efforts of the philanthropic organization.
Austin native Brigitte Campbell began her work in early December and said she has been “impressed by the dedication, compassion and willingness to help by so many volunteers.”
The former American Red Cross worker has also been involved with Mower Refreshed, KSMQ TV and Meals on Wheels. She is a graduate of Pacelli Catholic High School, and has degrees from Riverland Community College and Minnesota State University-Mankato.
The other milestone reached in the month of December was the dedication of the 2,000th home built in Minnesota by the 32 affiliates across the state by Habitat for Humanity and its volunteers.
These 2,000 homes are located throughout the state and represent an estimated current market value of over $250 million.
