Residents invited to give input on reducing the deficit
First District U.S. House Rep. Tim Walz is slated to be in Albert Lea Tuesday for a town hall meeting about the federal deficit.
The meeting will be interactive and offer people the ability to decide how to balance the budget and reduce the deficit, according to a news release.
“Serious conversations about how to reduce spending and create a secure fiscal future for all Americans are happening across the country,” said Walz, D-Mankato, in the release. “This town hall will give Minnesotans a hands-on opportunity to make decisions about federal spending, build consensus amongst their neighbors and provide me with feedback on how we can work together to balance the budget and ensure more people can achieve the American dream in years to come.”
The event is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. in Room 114 of Riverland Community College.
The release states a representative from the nonpartisan fiscal watchdog group the Concord Coalition will also be in attendance.
Walz is serving in his fourth term as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
His district covers the southern part of Minnesota, from the South Dakota border on the west to Wisconsin on the east.
