Elverna Kezar, 83, Minneapolis

Elverna R. (Nasby) Kezar, 83, of Minneapolis, formerly of Lyle, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Walker Methodist Health Care Center in Minneapolis. Elverna Rose Nasby was born on Jan. 2, 1930, in Forestburg, S.D., to Reuben and Elizabeth (Sievert) Nasby. She attended the Faribault school for the blind. She graduated from Marshfield High School in Coos Bay Oregon. On June 6, 1953, she married Donald Kezar. Elverna spent 35 years as a manager of The Blind of Minnesota Credit Union, retiring in 1994. Elverna’s favorite pastimes were watching old movies, doing puzzles, painting, researching the family tree and “stuff and junk.” In February of 2009, she moved to Walker Methodist Health Care Center in Minneapolis.
Survivors include her daughters, Pamela (Gordon) Martin of Lisbon, Iowa, and Diane (Randal) Hancock of Eagan; step-daughter Marsha (Bob) Bren of Shoreview; grandchildren, Sabrina Martin, Bryan Martin, Laura Hancock and Patrick Hancock; sisters, Marlene (Earl) Farlinger of St. Ansgar, Iowa and Shirley Jenkins of Austin; sister-in-law Delores Nasby of Stewartville; special niece Debra (Chuck) Osowski of Brooklyn Park; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald, on Jan. 13, 2013; her parents Reuben and Elizabeth Nasby; her brother Vernon; sister-in-law Marion Nasby; grandson Adam Hancock.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Oakland. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
