NORTHWOOD — Northwood resident Jane Bloomingdale was elected as mayor in a special election Tuesday in this community.

Results from the Worth County Auditor-Treasurer’S Office indicate Bloomingdale received 163 votes, or 79.9 percent of votes, while write-in candidates received 41 votes, or 20.1 percent.

Bloomingdale was appointed mayor by the Northwood City Council upon the resignation of former Mayor Randy Severson.

Voters also selected Russell Meyer and Douglas Helgeland to fill vacancies on the council.
