St. John’s Lutheran Home Auxiliary
The St. John’s Auxiliary met at 2 p.m. Jan. 21 in St. John’s Chapel. President Caroline Sorenson welcomed everyone. She gave devotions and a prayer.
The auxiliary sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Jesus Loves Me” accompanied by Becky Nordland on piano.
The secretary’s report was given by Bonnie Schneider. The treasurer’s report was given by Lorraine Schaper. Reports were approved.
The audit committee of Helen Mork and Delores Reimer reported that everything was in order and correct.
President Caroline introduced the officers for 2013. They were Sorenson, president, Jan Jerdee, vice president, Schneider, secretary, and Schaper, treasurer.
Volunteer coordinator Carla Reichel reported 1,238 hours for December – day care had 15 hours.
She also announced that there were a total of 11,380 volunteer hours for 2012.
Activities director Shirley Leeman announced that the Rev. Lee Freshour will be doing the Monday Bible study at 10 a.m. She also introduced new employees Cassie Davies, First south short stay, Heather English, first south sheltering arms, and Judy Olson, second north. They also have a woodworking person, Frank Pfeffer. She issued a welcome to all.
Activities for February include LA Sasse on this past Tuesday, Lonesome Ron today, Dunnell Lenort Saturday, Ash Wednesday on Feb. 13, Singing Valentines on Feb. 14, Lenten services at 10:30 Feb. 20, Kent Larson on Feb. 22, Lenten service on Feb. 27 and Hazzle Dazzle Parade at 10:30 Feb. 28.
Vice president read the names of residents celebrating January birthdays and “Happy Birthday” was sung.
Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were Zion Lutheran, Salem Lutheran, Grace Lutheran and First Lutheran.
The program was presented by Ken Bertelson and Millard Hamborg. They entertained the group with old time and country music songs on the accordion and key board.
Refreshments were provided by second south – Sue Barnes and St. John’s dietary department. The rhubarb cake was delicious.
The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
