Burglaries found at service clubs and businesses
Local authorities are advising business owners to take precautions after a series of burglaries have been reported at local service clubs and businesses during the last two to three weeks.
Albert Lea Police Department detective Ben Mortensen said break-ins have been reported at the Glenville and Freeborn American Legion clubs, along with the Eagles Club, Harold’s Bar and Church Offset Printing in Albert Lea.
The burglars have been breaking in through either windows or doors.
Mortensen said business owners should make sure not to ignore an alarm if it goes off and to make sure money is locked up in a safe place.
People in the public who see anything suspicious should not be afraid to call police, he added.
“If you get that feeling that something’s not right, give us a call,” he said. “A lot of our crimes get solved by people out in the public reporting things.”
The Albert Lea Police Department and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 377-5205 for non-emergencies at at 911 for emergencies.
