Here are highlights in history for Feb. 17, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1986 — A commentary on the Tribune’s editorial page by Lawrence L. Knutson had this headline: “Congress has too much money to spend.”
1976 — A total of 28 girls, members of New Richland Future Homemakers of America, held a “Rock Around the Clock” event and raised $2,000 for the community’s new recreation park.
1966 — Vicki Peterson and Wayne Bottelson reigned over the annual Southwest Junior High School ninth-grade party.
