Obama gets away with sequestration

In a recent opinion, it was stated “No one is talking about stopping gun sales …”
Don’t be too sure on that. President Barack Obama promised a “fundamental transformation of America” and he has hand-picked people to achieve his goal.
One of his interesting choices is Cass Sunstein. Mr. Sunstein has his dream job of writing regulations for the Obama administration. Sunstein comes up with stuff to “nudge” (his word) you into living as he and Obama believe you should.
With regard to guns, Sunstein believes people have no right to bear arms, saying: “Almost all gun control legislation is fine. And if the court is right, then fundamentalism does not justify the view that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms.”
Sunstein has other interesting views. He believes that government has a right to your body parts. He wrote: “The state owns the rights to body parts of people who are dead or in certain hopeless conditions, and it can remove their organs without asking anyone’s permission.”
In his book “Democracy and the Problem of Free Speech” he wrote “A legislative effort to regulate broadcasting in the interest of democratic principles should not be seen as an abridgment of the free speech guarantee.” (Source: “Radical Rulers” by Robert Knight).
If Sunstein has his way, the signs might read “Check your guns, speech and kidneys at the door, they will be confiscated.”
Now the sequester issue. Obama is laying blame at the feet of Republicans if jobs, etc., are lost as a result of sequester. According to Bob Woodward and Max Baucus, D-Mont., sequester was Obama’s idea. Baucus said, “President is part of sequester. The White House recommended it frankly back in August 2011.”
Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, chairman House Financial Services Committee, said the sequester was President Obama’s idea: “He proposed it and he insisted it be a part of the 2011 debt limit deal. House Republicans have voted twice to replace the arbitrary and harmful sequestration cuts with targeted, common-sense spending reductions …Unfortunately, Senate Democrats rejected those plans, offering no replacement solutions of their own.”
So, the president has promoted legislation, signed it into law and now blames Republicans for its ramifications. Amazing, isn’t it? Obama knows how to play the game and win. The truly sad part is that most of the media and many Americans let him get away with it.
