A winter storm warning is in effect for Albert Lea and much of Minnesota today through Tuesday.

Lake Mills and Northwood-Kensett schools will have a two-hour delay Monday.

The National Weather Service forecasts snowfall accumulations of 6 to 10 inches in central and southern Minnesota, with some bands of snow delivering 12 inches.

The storm is expected to move through overnight.

The first moves in tonight and Monday, with a second round Monday night and Tuesday.

The weather service says cities to be hit hardest by the storm include Albert Lea, Little Falls, Foley, Elk River, Monticello, Minneapolis, Blaine, St. Paul, Stillwater, Chaska, Shakopee, Burnsville, Le Sueur, Faribault, Red Wing, Waseca and Owatonna. Some areas in northern Iowa also are expected to receive heavy snow.

Wind tonight and Monday is expected to be 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.
