You Can Help

Here are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, retired and senior volunteer program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Head Start: Reading stories with and listening to preschoolers at the Brookside Education Center is a key step for getting them ready for kindergarten. Two readers are needed for Monday through Thursday, late morning or early afternoon. Call Daylin at 379-5160 to schedule a half day that works for you. A volunteer for office tasks is also needed.
Pelican Breeze II: Think spring! You can offer passenger hospitality as first mate on the Pelican Breeze II. They are also looking for a volunteer to handle crew scheduling for the scenic tours. Cheryl Page can provide more information when you call 402-1759 or 377-1898 or Pelican Foundation President Paul Stieler at 383-3513.
Special Olympics coaches: Special Olympics Track & Field participants are picking up the pace in training. Your help with them is needed at Brookside beginning 4 to 5 p.m. March 18. To extend training for these athletes, please call Jo or Crystal Carr at 377-3469.
RSVP, sponsored by Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
