School Matters

Hawthorne Elementary School students and their families braved the cold on Jan. 31 to attend the kindergarten Super Reader Night. Families enjoyed a sloppy joe dinner together and teachers shared information about new reading curriculum in the school district. They also talked about what the kindergartners are working on in reading and math. Families then visited the three classrooms and made fun and educational games with words and numbers that the children could take home. The Hawthorne parent-teacher organization helped by providing the meal. EcoWater donated bottled water, and Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services donated books for the families to take home.
