Arthur Bergeson, 84, Albert Lea

Graveside services for Arthur “Art” Bergeson will be at 3 p.m. April 20 at Graceland Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Memorial services will be at a later date in Rockford, Ill. Military honors accorded by Albert Lea veteran’s organizations.
Art died on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. He was 84 years old.
Art was born on July 13, 1928, in Northwood to Andrew and Hilda (Watne) Bergeson. He grew up in Albert Lea and attended Albert Lea High School before enlisting in the Army. On June 13, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marian Bean in Moorhead. Together they raised two children. The family lived in Austin for 10 years and then moved to Rockford where they spent 30 years before settling down in Albert Lea.
Art leased a service station in Rockford and also worked at Barber Coleman Factory as a machine operator before his retirement. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and enjoyed watching football and the Minnesota Twins.
Art is survived by his wife, Marian Bergeson, of Albert Lea; son, Steven (Deborah) Bergeson of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Sue Bergeson of Rockford; grandchildren, Bridget (Chad) Markin of Rockford, Robert (Jill) Bergeson of Denver, Colo., Bryan Bergeson of Denver and Amy (Kelly) Rose of Rockford; great-grandchildren, Landon Markin, Layton Markin, Callie Bergeson, Tanner Bergeson, Lia Rose and Ava Rose; sisters, Gertrude Sorenson of Albert Lea and Alga Johnson of Northwood; nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Hilda Bergeson; son, Scott Bergeson; brothers, Joseph, Howard and Harold Bergeson; sister, Sally Barb; and brother-in-law, Carl Barb.
