Singer to perform at Northbridge Mall

A show to benefit the Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, will be this Friday at Northbridge Mall.

The featured artist will be Nashville, Tenn-based singer and songwriter Tom Wurth. A meet and greet dinner for sponsors will be at 5 p.m., followed by a concert starting at 6:30 p.m. Wurth will be joined by Albert Lea artist Angel Van Anhalt and Austin native guitarist Randy Barnette.

Wurth, an Iowa native, has produced albums for Eddie Money and John Ford Coley, and opened for Thompson Square at Clear Lake’s historic Surf Ballroom. Friday’s concert in Albert Lea is in conjunction with Wurth’s upcoming tractor ride across Iowa fundraiser.

The event is sponsored by Copper Kitchen and the mall. All donations and auction proceeds will go to Blank Children’s Hospital. Friday

• Hollandale Christian School will have an auction starting with a light supper at 5:30 p.m. A silent auction runs from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., and a live auction starts at 7 p.m.

• Tom Wurth will play at Northbridge Mall at 6:30 p.m. The concert benefits the Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.

• Tigers Roar will be at 7 p.m. at Albert Lea High School. Tickets are $5.

 

Saturday

• Northbridge Mall will host an outdoor expo for children from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be activities and workshops for children.

• The Bricelyn Lutheran Church will host “Feeding the 5,000” from 4 to 7 p.m. Menu includes all you can eat Alaskan walleye, baked potato, cole slaw, toast, bars and coffee. Proceeds benefit the roof replacement project.

• The Scarville Fire Department hosts its annual soup supper from 4 to 8 p.m. Firefighters will serve oyster stew, fireman chili, mild chili, wild rice and ham soup.

• St. Casimir’s Catholic School in Wells hosts the Celebrate with the Saints event. Doors open at 5 p.m., then a meal will be served and silent auction bidding will begin. A live auction starts at 7 p.m.

• Tigers Roar will be at 7 p.m. at Albert Lea High School. Tickets are $5.

• The “Planes, Trains and Blades” show by the Albert Lea Skating Club will be at 7 p.m. at the Albert Lea City Arena. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $7 for students. Children age 5 and younger get in free.

 

Sunday

• The Conger Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Conger Community Center. Menu includes pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage patties, milk and juice. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12.

• The “Planes, Trains and Blades” show by the Albert Lea Skating Club will be at 7 p.m. at the Albert Lea City Arena. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $7 for students. Children age 5 and younger get in free.
