The roar of the Tigers

It’s time again for the annual variety show at Albert Lea High School.
Students have been busy preparing for this year’s Tigers Roar with the theme Roarin’ Through Tiger Territory. Masters of ceremony are seniors Andrew Ehrhardt, Jacob Kunkel and Tate Tufte and junior Lawrence Pederson.
“We make each other laugh so we want to share that,” Tufte said.
There’s a wide range of acts including singing, dancing, rapping and more. The emcees said it’s hard to pick a favorite.
“They’re all really good,” Kunkel said.
Though there were some scheduling conflicts with students being on the choir trip to New York City and practice cancellations because of snow days, director Mindy Kruger said all the students are ready for opening night.
“We’re working hard, and it’s coming together nicely,” Kruger said. “The kids always do a good job.”
Kruger and Lynda Kiseler are again co-directing the show. It will also be a memorable last show for senior Katie Callahan. She has worked on the stage crew for all four years of her high school career. She’s never missed a show and guessed that she only missed one practice.
“Every Tigers Roar is memorable,” Callahan said. “It’s really active and fun.”
She said it can be hard to keep the teenagers quiet backstage, but she has never been afraid to tell people to keep it down for the sake of the show.
“I’ve got my bossiness to do that,” Callahan said.
The show opens at 7 p.m. today, with 7 p.m. shows Friday and Saturday, too. Before the show the jazz band will play in the commons area.
The following are all the students in Tigers Roar acts: Katelyn Hendrickson with Tyler Vandenheuval; Marleny Huerta-Apanco, Tanner Shaft, Nick Walter and Rika Boorsma; Kyle Niedermeyer; Bailey Blickenderfer; Emma Behling and Julie Otten; Cody Olson; Ryan McLaughlin with Regin Reyes; Carissa Blizzard, Amanda Bera, Adison Talamantes and Hannah Reese; Genevieve Johnson, Mitzi Soto, Alyssa Christenson and Sergio Chavez; the Albert Lea ‘CAT’aclysmic show choir; Jacob Estes; Jalen Jimenez and Abby Pleiss; Savannah Simpson; Miles Erdman and Tyler Shaw as Adam Quincy and T-Shaw; Regin Reyes, Rika Boorsma, Isaac Ware and Sam Ware.
