NEW PRAGUE — A 12-year-old boy accused of making a fake 911 call about a school shooting in New Prague will remain in detention for now.
At a hearing in Scott County juvenile court, a judge asked for more background about the boy before deciding whether he can be returned to his parents. The boy’s attorney Marsh Halberg says they’ll be back in court Monday.
The boy was arrested Wednesday shortly after two calls were made about a shooter on the school campus with an assault rifle. Students were locked in their classrooms as worried parents, some in tears, rushed to the school after receiving news about a lockdown.
Classes were interrupted again today when staff members received a series of identical emails warning that a bomb would explode. Students were evacuated briefly.
