Bettie Landis, 82, Albert Lea

Memorial service for Bettie Mae Landis will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service chapel in Albert Lea. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. The Rev. Tom Biatek will officiate. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
Bettie died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. She was 82 years old.
Bettie was born on July 31, 1930, to Bert and Melvina (Winchester) Webb in Wauwatosa, Wis.
Bettie attended school in Oshkosh, Wis. On Oct. 23, 1948, Bettie was united in marriage to Lloyd Maher at First Baptist Church of Omro, Wis. Two children were born from this marriage, Linda and Michael. On July 9, 1960, Bettie was united in marriage to David Landis at Wesleyan Methodist Church of Gillingham, Wis. Bettie moved to Albert Lea in May of 1966. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Hope Circle. She had waitressed in Henderson Restaurant, Baraboo, Wis., and Woolworth in Albert Lea. She was a homemaker and was her husband’s bookkeeper. She also had worked in the kitchen at the Naeve Hospital.
Bettie enjoyed watching TV, playing scrabble, writing poems and doing embroidery work.
Bettie is survived by her children, daughter, Linda (Jerry) Wayne of Albert Lea; son, Mike (Mary) Maher of Monticello; grandchildren, Jason Wayne, Stacy Wayne (Dave Ketterling and son, Dakota,) David Maher, Danelle (Brett Weaver) and Tony Maher; great-grandchildren: Selam, Landon, Cayden, Raider; brothers, Clarence (Billy Kay) Huse of Pasadena, Calif., Gordon (Karen) Huse of Oshkosh; sisters, Nancy (Roger) Vick of Cedar Grove, Wis., Joanne (Cecil) Battles of Grants Pass, Ore.; and previous husband, Lloyd Maher of Portage, Wis.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Landis; and sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Paul) Heckroth.
Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church and the Alzheimer’s Association in care of “Little G’s Team.”
Bettie will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends.
