Sylvia Satter, 83, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Sylvia M. Satter, 83, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Sylvia died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Sylvia Margaret Satter was born on July 15, 1929, in Glenville, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Vestad) Rovang. She grew up in Glenville and went to country school. On Aug. 15, 1949, Sylvia was united in marriage to Willis D. Satter at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Sylvia worked at Wilson & Co. in the smoked meats department. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Disabled American Veterans. Her hobbies included reading, visiting with friends and bird watching, especially the pelicans on Albert Lea Lake. She dearly loved animals. Sylvia was a very loving and dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Blessed be her memory.

Survivors include her daughter, Pam Carlson of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Carlson and Ryan Carlson; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Dayne, Ayden, Isaac and Noah; several nieces and nephews; and her “second family” Susan (Mike) VanHyfte and Sally (Nick Zrucky) Gallaher.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis; her long-time companion, Dale Gallaher; sisters, Mabel, Pearl and Gladys; and brothers, Clarence, Alfred and Palmer.
