Funeral services for Doris E. Christensen, 92, of Hartland, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Burial will be at the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church. Doris died on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society.
Doris Elaine Christensen was born on March 21, 1921, in rural Hartland, the daughter of Stephen and Torina (Stensrud) Pederson. She attended rural school and graduated from New Richland High School in 1939. Doris was united in marriage to Howard Christensen on Oct. 11, 1944, at Hartland Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and secretary for Production Credit Association. Doris enjoyed shopping, sewing, traveling and being involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, the Bible study group and Ladies Aide. Also the Legion auxiliary, Red Hat Society, T.O.P.S. member, NARFE, and the Doris Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Jerry) Phillips of Bemidji, Cheryl (Mike) Norton of Canby and Jodi (Brian) Wayne of Ellendale; grandchildren, Jared (Heidi) Phillips, Jay (Lindsay) Phillips, Justin Phillips, Brandon (Jodi) Wayne, Missie (Sean) Engel, Kyle (Linda) Norton, Kari (Dan) Budach and Katie (Michael) Hunt; and nine great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, and many aunts and uncles.
