MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police say a standoff with a man in north Minneapolis has ended peacefully.
The standoff started early Sunday and went on for roughly seven hours.
Police Sgt. Stephen McCarty said police were called to the area of 35th and Newton Avenues North about 4:40 a.m. A woman told police a drunken man was in the house, and she left, but other people were still inside.
Shortly after officers arrived, the others inside the house left, but officers spent hours negotiating with the man.
Police sent a robot into the house to subdue him with a chemical irritant.
The man was arrested without further incident. He’s jailed on multiple charges including false imprisonment and reckless discharge of a firearm.
