You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Freeborn County Bike-A-Thon: The 41st annual Bike-A-Thon starts at 6 a.m. May 4 at the Sibley Elementary School warming house. Registration nights are 5 to 7 p.m. May 2 and 3 and Skyline Plaza. Call LeAnn Juveland at 402-6960 to help with the registrations or Pat Stumme at 377-7433 for a two-hour shift to help welcome the riders returning to the warming house.
First aid kits: Reminder — spring brings graduations, confirmations and gifting showers of all kinds. By giving the RSVP first aid kits you are also helping the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. Just ask at Senior Resources, Skyline Plaza, Albert Lea, for the RSVP just-right size first aid kits equipped for your outdoor person, traveler or home emergencies. The modest $10 purchase price also makes a nice donation to RSVP.
Village clean-up: Enjoy time outdoors at the historical society’s pioneer village with friends preparing it for the spring and summer’s activities. Just bring your own rubber gloves and elbow grease — all other cleaning supplies are provided. Please call Pat Mulso at 373-8003 to be included in the fun and coffee break goodies. When it’s slick as a whistle you’ll know you’ve made a clear difference for the village.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
