Rebels defeat Mustangs

WELLS– Val Sahr and Danielle Koestler both scored 11 points a piece Tuesday as the United South Central Rebels girls’ basketball team defeated the Granada-Huntley/East Chain Mustangs 48-32 in Wells.
Both teams struggled from the field in the first half, as the Rebels held a 12-10 lead going into half-time.
“We didn’t shoot well in the first half,” USC coach Stu Hendrickson said. “It was just a slow first half.”
Things picked up in the second half for USC as they scored 36 points and pulled away from the Mustangs.
“We came out better in the second half,” Hendrickson said. “We had a good night on defense.”
The Rebels defense forced GHEC into 35 turnovers and USC recorded 19 steals.
USC (19-6 overall, 14-1 Gopher Conference) is back in action on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. as they play Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in Waterville.
