MARSHALL — Administrators at Marshall Public Schools have scheduled a meeting to review field trip protocol after a 4-year-old child was left at a museum.

Jacqueline Whylly said it was her worst nightmare to learn her son had been left at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota in Brookings, S.D. Tuesday. Teachers didn’t realize AJ was missing until they were back in Marshall, about an hour away. Whylly said no one was accountable for her son.

Marshall Superintendent Klint Willert offered an apology and said rules for field trips were not followed. He said students are to be counted before they get on the bus and again after they’ve boarded.

A meeting with district administrators has been scheduled Thursday morning to review field trip procedures.
