MINNEAPOLIS — The public will have its first look at the new $975 million Vikings stadium next month.
According to the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, architects plan to unveil the preliminary design for the 65,000-seat, multipurpose stadium May 13 at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.
The stadium will be on the same site as the team’s current home, the Metrodome, which will be torn down.
Michele Kelm-Helgen is chairwoman of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, which is overseeing construction of the downtown Minneapolis project. She said all the details of the building will be revealed.
The stadium financing legislation approved last year calls for the building to include 7,500 club seats, 150 suites and space for gift shops, restaurants and an NFL team museum and Hall of Fame.
